Second ‘Doing Good and Doing Well’ roundtable held in Manchester
Earlier this week Shaftesbury Partnership held the second in its series of Doing Good and Doing Well roundtables. These events provide a platform for people to take a step back from their day-to-day work and reflect on the ways in which responsible businesses and their people can deliver a wider value to society.
The focus of this second roundtable was on skills development in the context of an ageing workforce and uneven opportunities in the labour market. A broad range of companies and organisations were represented around the table, including BAM Construct, British Gas, Carillion, Jaguar Land Rover, Mears Group, Natwest, and Sodexo.
The event was held at the Message Enterprise Centre, Manchester, part of The Message Trust. The Message Enterprise Centre is a social enterprise which runs a range of businesses to create jobs for young people who need a second chance in life. As well as a café and catering service for private functions, the centre hosts a printing business, a building services group, a hair and beauty salon, and a bicycle repair service.
Chris Mould chaired the discussion for The Shaftesbury Partnership, and has written up his reflections on the event here
